KANDY –

Central province governor Lalith U. Gamage has expressed concern about the failure of the police and the Matale Municipal Council to resolve a dispute over the land occupied by the office of the Matale Superintendent of Police.

Governor Gamage said at a recent meeting the issue had remained unsolved even though a settlement had been proposed by the Cabinet 10 years back.

Governor Gamage said that as the relevant parties were state institutions, they should have resolved disputes amicably.

State Minister Rohana Dissanayake, Parliamentarian Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda, Matale Municipal Commissioner N. Maduwage, SP Matale Hemantha Gunasekera and several others attended the meeting at the Governor`s secretariat.
