Court orders DGHS to name patients who died after being given fake immunoglobulin and those adversely affected by it

President of the Medical and Civil Rights Professional Association (MCPA), Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa on Tuesday (02) said that the Director General of Health Services must furnish reports to court on those who had died and those who had been adversely affected by the purchase of the substandard human intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG).
“The court has already asked him to submit these reports. There was no need to wait until a court order to compile the reports. The Ministry of Health should have had that information ready,” he said.
Dr. Sanjeewa said the National Hospital of Colombo already had those reports.
“The Director General of Health Services can no longer say that no one was killed or there were no serious side effects from administering the fake drug on people. Covering up a crime is also a crime,” he said.
