The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has issued an order against the staging of a protest march today (24) by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) employees’ union near the Parliament junction.

As per the order CEB Employees’ union secretary Ranjan Jayalal, its members and other participants are barred from engaging in a protest march that gets in the way of vehicular movement and pedestrians.

The Court order has also prohibited them from behaving in an unruly manner during the course of the demonstration.

The order was issued after taking into consideration a request made by the Welikada Police OIC, in accordance with the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
