Counsel wants probe into attack on Chamuditha’s residence handed over to CID

President’s Counsel Kuvera de Zoysa told The Island yesterday that he had suggested to the Kesbewa Magistrate to hand over the investigation into the throwing of stones and faeces at the house of Chamuditha Samarawickrama, to the CID, if the police could not arrest the suspects.
A complaint was lodged with the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court, pertaining to the attack at the residence of Chamuditha Samarawickrama in Piliyandala on 14 Feb, this year under the Witnesses and Victims Protection Act.’ Chamuditha Samarawickrama is a ‘Hiru TV’ news presenter.
The Magistrate had ordered that security be provided to Chamuditha and his residence, the counsel said.
According to Counsel De Zoysa the case would be next called on 28 April 28, before the Kesbewa Magistrate. The CCTV footage near the residence of Chamuditha had been submitted to the Moratuwa University to study and report to the Court.
