Chairman of the Committee On Public Enterprise (COPE) Professor Ranjith Bandara expressed his displeasure at the fact that despite the repeated insistence of the committee to conduct an independent inquiry into the matters of Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (SLECIC) it was found that no progress had been made.

  • The Corporation had not appointed an Internal Auditor by 06/04/2023
  • An independent commission had not been appointed to investigate the financial misappropriation and allegations of fraud
  • There was still no Corporate Plan congruent with the mission statement of the institute

As such, the meeting was prematurely adjourned by the Chair with a strict instruction that by 23/06/23, redress would have to be finalized for all the above matters.

The Chairman further directed the Department of Management Services to help complete the rest of the 56-person cadre that is only currently occupied by 19 personnel.
