Cop found tied to tree rescued and remanded for trespass
Rambukkana police on Monday night (24) rescued a Police Sergeant who had been tied to a tree by a group of villagers for trying to enter a house forcibly.
The police produced him before the Kegalle Magistrate on a charge of trespass and was remanded till August 03.
Police said that the remanded officer had been assigned for mobile patrol and was on duty with two police constables when he suddenly stopped the police vehicle and walked away, saying that he would eat something and re-join the patrol.
The police received a call on 119 emergency line that an officer had been tied to a tree.
Having produced the officer in the Kegalle Magistrate’s court, Kegalle OIC Mahesh Wijesiri informed the court that the person concerned couldn’t be exempted from the law.
