CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SRI LANKA WOMEN’S CRICKET TEAM

All cricket loving Sri Lankans were elated when they heard that the Sri Lankan women cricketers had tamed the lions in their own den. It was a great achievement indeed to win the series against the English women’s team with all the odd against Chamari’s team. Most would not have given a dog’s chance for our team to achieve this victory.

No doubt it was Chamari Athapaththu who was instrumental in the wonderful achievement. She led the team from the front and her achievements won her the Player of the Match award in two instances and also the Player of the Series! Our heartiest congratulations to Chamari on the double achievement and been the major contributor in creating history by beating the English team on their home soil.

I do hope the team will be given a rousing welcome and a reception on their arrival back home.
