‘Confessions of a Global Gypsy’ launched

‘Confessions of a Global Gypsy,’ a memoir of the first 13 years of Professor Chandana Jayawardena’s career in the hospitality industry, was launched at the auditorium of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) on Monday (11).

‘Confessions of a Global Gypsy’ was published as a column in the Sunday Island. Professsor Jayawardena, an alumni of SLITHM, has risen from the very bottom rung of the industry, over five decades ago, and has served as the General Manager of many hotels, both locally and internationally.

Addressing the distinguished gathering of SLITHM alumni, family, friends and present students of SLITHM, Dr. Jayawardena recounted how he achieved his dream of being an accomplished international hotelier.

He advised the students to get better qualified than those who hold the positions in the trade you envy.

‘The Confessions of a Global Gypsy’ has been compiled from a column published in the Sunday Island and its sequel ‘Passions of a Global Hotelier’ is to be published in the same newspaper from 5th May, 2024.

The 520 page book was published by Vijitha Yapa Publications.
