Committee on Public Finance approves DDO resolution

The Resolution on the Domestic Debt Optimisation was approved by the Committee on Public Finance by a majority at the Committee meeting held yesterday (30).Extensive Domestic Debt Optimisation discussions were held for the second consecutive day yesterday at the Committee on Public Finance, Chaired by Dr. Harsha de Silva.

Discussions were held on Thursday (29), separately with Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, Treasury Secretary K.M Mahinda Siriwardana, and high officials representing the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilisation and National Policies during the first half of the meeting. Discussions were held with creditors including banks, superannuation funds, and insurance funds to obtain perspectives during the second half of the meeting.

After discussion, the Committee approved the Resolution by a majority, subject to certain amendments made at the Committee meeting.

State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, Committee Members and Members of Parliament were present at the Committee meeting.
