Teargas canisters in outstation police stations have been brought to Colombo, according to sources.A senior police officer revealed that police had used large quantities of teargas during recent protests in Colombo and suburbs. Therefore, only a limited number of tear gas quantities were left in Colombo police stations, he said. “So, we have had to ask police stations from other parts of Colombo to send in their stocks to Colombo,” he said, adding that the police had also used a huge amount of water to disperse protests in recent weeks and the Police had not yet paid the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.
