Colombage says he opted out of FM
Former Foreign Secretary Admiral (retd) Jayanath Colombage says that he requested the government that he shouldn’t be considered for re-appointment following the dissolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on May 09.
The resignation of Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa resulted in the automatic dismissal of Secretaries to the Ministries. The one-time Navy Chief said that his family wanted him to take a break, therefore he quit on his own.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has appointed retired career diplomat Aruni Wijewardena as Colombage’s replacement. (SF)
