CID to investigate ragging

The IGP yesterday instructed senior police officers to hand over complaints on ragging at universities to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). From now on any complaint lodged with police stations will be handed over to the CID.

Kiribathgoda and Peradeniya Police stations had received these complaints, the police said. IGP has ordered the CID to investigate these complaints using provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code.
