CID takes over probe into gun attack on MP

The investigation regarding the Sunday incident where the private vehicle of Anuradhapura District MP Uddika Premaratne was shot at in front of his house, in Anuradhapura, has been handed over to the CID.
Police said that the relevant investigations had been immediately handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department on the orders of the Inspector General of Police.
A group of unidentified persons fired at the vehicle of the Parliamentarian at around 10.35 pm as he was returning to his private residence alone.
The MP was not injured in the shooting, police said.
A live bullet and an ammunition casing were also found at the place of the shooting and it has been revealed in the preliminary investigation that the attack was carried out with a 9 mm pistol.
