Christmas in July!
While we, in Sri Lanka, may not have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas, on December 25th, due to the present situation, in the country, the Sri Lankans, in Melbourne, Australia, celebrated Christmas…five months ahead of the scheduled date!
Of course, the birth of Christ will be celebrated, as usual, in an awesome way, on December 25th, but…yes, that it would all depend on how the Covid situation is in Australia, at that point of time.
Mali Jay and No Limit kept the large crowd well entertained.
The country, at the moment, is seeing an upsurge in Covid cases, I’m told.
According to reports, coming my way, Victoria has recorded 7,115 new cases of Covid-19, and on Sunday, July 31st, there were 21 new deaths, related to Covid-19; 768 hospitalised with Covid-19; 43 in intensive care, and seven on a ventilator.
However, a capacity crowd revelled at a wonderful night of music and laughter, complemented with a Sri Lankan smorgasbord dinner, at ‘Christmas in July,’ says Trevine Rodrigo.
Trevine took in the scene, at the Dandenong Workers’ Club, and this is what he reported:
“No Limit with Esric Jackson and Mali Jay had the full house entertained with a great selection of music.
“Country King Esric Jackson showcased why he has been in the forefront of music, in Melbourne, for several decades, while
“Talented and hilarious Arnie, the Elvis imitator, had the packed venue in raptures with his antics and great vocals.
“He is, indeed, a versatile performer.”
It’s good to see the Sri Lankans, Down Under, having a ball, and I’m sure they must be looking forward to celebrating the forthcoming festive season…in an awesome way.
