Choka Malli’s murder conviction appeal: Order reserved till 31 March

The Court of Appeal reserved till 31 March, the order in respect of the appeal filed by Premalal Jayasekera alias ‘Choka Malli’, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Member of Parliament for the Ratnapura District. He was convicted of murder and sentenced to death by the Ratnapura High Court.

The alleged offence was committed in the run up to the Presidential Poll of 2016, at Kahawatta.

President’s Counsel Nalin Laduwahetty appeared with Anuja Premaratne PC and Buddhika Chandrasekera for the accused appellants.

The bench comprised Justice Nissanaka Bandula Karunaratne and Justice R. Gurusinghe.
