China gives unforgettable Deepavali present to 10 residents of Kaluvankerny

On the eve of Deepavali, and before the rainy season, 10 most underprivileged families in Kaluvankerny, Batticaloa, moved into their new houses, gifted by the Chinese Embassy. Ambassador of China to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong, and Mme. Jin Qian, visited Kaluvankerny, on the evening of 23rd October, accompanied by the President of the Batticaloa Civil Society, S. Mamangaraja, the Embassy said yesterday (25). They cut the ribbon for the new houses, handed over keys, food and household equipment, donated by the Chinese Embassy, and wished the villagers Happy Deepavali. The project is the first ever direct foreign aid received by the village, according to the representative of the locals.
