Open batsman Ochintha Chamika anchored the batting line up till the penultimate over of the day as St. Thomas’ reached 193 for seven wickets at stumps after being put to bat by their arch rivals St. Servatius’ on day one of the 123rd Battle of the Blues of Matara at Uyanwatta Stadium on Friday.

Chamika faced as many as 231 balls and batted for three complete sessions as his knock inclusive of eight boundaries helped St. Thomas’ salvage pride after four batsmen were out without reaching double figures.  Pesandu Sanjan who stroked 35 runs off 57 deliveries was the next highest scorer. For St. Servatius’ Thisan Dewmith grabbed four wickets.
