Ceylon Agro & Bio-Technology Company Ltd is in Kenya for organic fertilizer manufacturing

A delegation of Ceylon Agro and Bio Technology Company Ltd, led by the CEO, Ravin Nawaratne, and the High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Kenya, Kana V Kananathan, yesterday held a constructive meeting with the Principal Secretary, Abubakar Hassan Abubakar, of Kenya’s State Department for Investment Promotion and the team of officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, which centred on establishing a manufacturing unit for organic fertilizer in Kenya.

The Ceylon Agro and Bio Technology Company embarked on this investment exploration visit to Kenya at the invitation of High Commissioner Kananathan, offering the platform for potential collaboration with Kenyan stakeholders and aiming to tap into the rich agricultural opportunities in Kenya and across the broader African region, a news release n the event said.

During this meeting, the discussions revolved around the specifics of the proposed investment by Ceylon Agro and Bio-Technology in the organic fertilizer sector within Kenya. The discussions were firmly rooted in a shared commitment to sustainable agricultural practices.

Ravin Nawaratne, CEO of Ceylon Agro and Bio-Technology, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing, “Kenya’s agricultural potential is immense, and we are eager to partner with local stakeholders to deliver high-quality fertilizers.” High Commissioner Kananathan echoed this sentiment, stating, “We believe this initiative will not only benefit our investor but also make substantial contributions to Kenya’s food security and economic growth.”

The Principal Secretary, while commending High Commissioner Kananathan for facilitating this beneficial partnership, highlighted the win-win potential of this collaboration for both Sri Lanka and Kenya and assured the investor of the Kenyan government’s unwavering support in navigating regulatory processes and obtaining necessary assistance for the project. Furthermore, he acknowledged and appreciated High Commissioner Kananathan’s dedication to enhancing economic ties between Sri Lanka and Kenya by connecting investors with key officials and agencies, facilitating a seamless integration of investors into the Kenyan industry.
