Central Mail Exchange sealed after staffer tests positive for COVID-19
The Central Mail Exchange was closed yesterday after it was revealed that one of its staff members had been infected with COVID-19.
After it was established that one person had tested positive, his close associates at the Exchange were subjected to PCR tests. The exchange would be reopened after being disinfected, Deputy Postmaster General – Operations, Rajitha Ranasinghe said.
The Central Mail Exchange has not been open to the public for several weeks. Postal workers were only distributing medicines, Ranasinghe said.
Since the Central Mail Exchange is now closed, the distribution of medicines will be coordinated by the Western Province – South, Deputy Postmaster General’s Office.
