Central Bank’s new Governing Board meets
The Central Bank Friday said its ‘Governing Board’ established under a new monetary law has had its first meeting.
The following persons make up the Governing Board: Nandalal Weerasinghe, Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, as the Chairman, Sanjeeva Jayawardena, President’s Counsel, who was previously, a member of the Monetary Board, Nihal Fonseka, who was previously a member of the Monetary Board, Ravi Ratnayake and Anushka Wijesingha.
The members of the Governing Board, will also be members of a Monetary Policy Board of the Central Bank which will set rates. This Board will convene shortly, for its very first meeting, the statement said.
