Last week Buddhi batiks celebrated its 52nd anniversary with a special press conference and preview at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery. This event took the invitees through a celebration of the founders of Buddhi Batiks through the colorful art of wax and dye. Attended by the large gathering, the exhibition showcased some of Buddhi batiks early work of wall art and flags.

Buddhi batiks commenced in 1971 by Buddhi and Ranasiri Keerthisena, started as a passion it’s now an iconic name Dharshi, a foremost exponents of batik craft, is the creative Director and CEO of Buddhi batiks. Recipient of many prestigious awards, she had the opportunity o showcase at the Buckingham Palace some of her creations at the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange which was hosted as a part of London Fashion week. The Buddhi family in thier accolades made reference to all the artisans who have tirelessly worked to be part of Buddhi Batik’s journey.

Dharshi, known as the queen of Batiks in Sri Lanka will definitely carry forward our name said Dharshi’s mother Buddhika. Dharshi has showcased her collections at several international fashion weeks and had been participating at Colombo Fashion Week since 2007.
