CEB union protests against Electricity Bill ahead of crucial elections

It will be November 2024, when the Sri Lanka Electricity Bill is implemented, and by then Ranil Wickremesinghe will not be President and Kanchana Wijesekera will not be a minister, says CEB United Trade Union Alliance Convener Ranjan Jayalal.
CEB unions held a demonstration at Battaramulla against the Bill, and asked MPs not to vote for it.
“This Bill will ruin the country. It will be a boon to a few private companies,” said Jayalal, adding that it usually took about six months for an Act to be implemented, and most MPs who vote for the Electricity Bill would not be re-elected.
