CEB introduces environment friendly e-billing system

About 100 million sheets of paper to be saved

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) yesterday introduced its e-billing system.

Customers residing in the Dehiwala, Kelaniya, Sri Jayewardenepura, Matara and Ambalangoda areas will receive their electricity bills in a digital format via SMS or email.

Deputy General Manager (Business and Operational Strategy) Eng. Noel Priyantha, who is also the CEB Spokesperson, said: “We also encourage all our customers countrywide to register for this service, as the issuance of printed bills will gradually be suspended in the coming months.”

To register via SMS, please type REG<space>followed by your A/C Number and send it to 1987.To register online, please visit http://ebill.ceb.lk and follow the instructions.

The CEB has requested its customers’ cooperation to ensure the successful implementation of the e-Billing system.

The CEB is expected to save some 100 million sheets of paper annually.
