CEB forced to restore power to Bambalapitiya railway station after public outcry
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) yesterday (26) restored the power supply to the Bambalapitiya railway station in response to public outrage after the media reported that electricity to the station had been disconnected due to the non-payment of bills.
TV stations on Friday morning reported that the power supply to the station had been disconnected on Wednesday and that the station staff was carrying out their duties with the aid of kerosine lamps and candles.Commuters said that they were greatly inconvenienced and that getting into trains at night had become risky.
