CEB Engineers’ union launches work-to rule campaign to halt backdoor deal with US energy firm
By Ifham Nizam
The Sri Lankan government must take immediate steps to put an end to the deal with the US Company New Fortress Energy Inc., or face the consequences, warns Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Union (CEBEU) President Saumya Kumarawadu.
The powerful engineers’ union President told The Island that the US firm was not even qualified to do any deal even in the US, let alone elsewhere.
Kumarawadu said that until the government scrapped the backdoor deal they would continue with their work-to-rule campaign which commenced from noon yesterday (25).
Kumaravadu said that they would resort to a strike if the relevant authorities fail to respond to their demands.
