The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) has obtained the ISO 9001:2015 Standard Certification, awarded by the Sri Lanka Standards Institute.

CEA was able to obtain ISO 9001:2015 standard certification by implementing a “Quality Management System,” based on international standard, for its functions.

Improving the overall performance and, thereby, strengthening the path towards sustainable development goals, is their motto, says CEA Chairman Supun S. Pathirage. He added that with the full support of its Director General, Hemantha Jayasinghe, the CEA successfully established a “Condition Management System”.

The Central Environmental Authority, which works on the provisions of the National Environmental Act No. 47 of 1980, is governed by relevant regulations, technical guidelines and internal circulars, and by further strengthening these activities, providing satisfactory service to its clients and creating a clean green environment in Sri Lanka is the main objective.

He said that CEA expectations are, accordingly, environmental planning, pollution control, solid waste and hazardous waste management, air quality and laboratory services, environmental impact assessment, natural resource management, research and development, strategic environmental assessment including that of the Central Environment Authority’s head office and Western Provincial Office.

On Monday, it was officially informed to the Environment Minister Engineer Nasir Ahmed and the Secretary of the Environment Ministry Dr. Anil Jasinghe that the Central Environmental Authority has obtained the ISO 9001:2015 standard certificate.
