CCTV no deterrent to seasoned burglar

Even CCTV systems do not deter some burglars these days. A complaint was received by the Ambalanthota Police on Sunday morning of a theft that had taken place in the Ambalanthota town, where a person had smashed the glass door of a showroom and helped himself to the cash which had been in a drawer.

The burglary had been recorded on the CCTV cameras at the establishment and the recordings have been handed over to the Ambalanthota police who are investigating the incident.

Sources said the same person had burgled several business places in the Tangalle, Ranna andHungama police areas previously.
