Cattle afflicted with viral disease
By Rathindra Kuruwita
Lumpy skin disease, a viral disease, is spreading among the cattle and this could lead to significant economic damage.
The disease is prevalent in the Northwestern Province, where 2,000 cows have contracted the disease so far.
The Ministry of Agriculture says that while the disease does not cause death it greatly reduces production of milk.
The spread of the disease could be curbed by quarantining the sick cows, the Department of Animal Production and Health (DAPH) said.
The Department has started vaccinating cows.
