Catalysts Sri Lanka launches bid to revisit current diversity and inclusion practices

Catalysts Sri Lanka launched the Ignite Inclusion Initiative (III) recently at Imperial Monarch, introducing the intervention designed to help corporate entities to create diverse and inclusive work environments, according to a press release issued by the group.

The initiative aims to facilitate a process of revisiting existing Diversity and Inclusion practices within organizations and to help rethink current practices.

The founders of ‘Catalysts Sri Lanka’, Professor Hemamalie Gunatilaka, Professor Prabha Manuratne, and Dr. Dushan Jayawickrama are academics who come from the fields of Management, Cultural Studies and Marketing. They aim to introduce key developments and findings on diversity and inclusion made in the education sector to the corporate sector, through tailor-made training programs to fit the needs and requirements of companies.

The rationale behind the initiative is the recognition that the corporate sector in Sri Lanka will have to diversify their workforce and address the needs of customers from diverse backgrounds. Companies will be deeply affected by the various global and local crises that affect the Sri Lankan economy and will be forced to contend with migrant workforces from many different backgrounds. To face this challenge, corporate entities would have to turn to more intrinsic rewards where the recognition of human uniqueness and respect for individual and social differences would determine the level of motivation and productivity of employees.

Through this initiative, ‘Catalysts Sri Lanka’ strives to celebrate human diversity by educating corporate leaders on how to rethink and revisit practices of inclusion to create more inclusive organizations and eventually more inclusive societies.
