Cardinal reiterates demand for truth and justice

The Catholic Church would continue to seek the truth about the Easter Sunday attacks and justice for the victims, said Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith at St. Jude’s Church, Welisara, on Thursday (21).

“Why are we working so hard for justice for those who died during the Easter Sunday attacks? Why do we seek justice for those who were injured and killed? We can pretend to accept the version of events presented by the government and live without any worry or problem,” he said.

Cardinal Ranjith said that people must be willing to fight for the rights of their comrades. Jesus asked people to love each other like he loved humanity, he said.

“Thus, we are compelled to seek the truth because we care,” he said.
