Colombo Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, on Sunday, issued a challenge to the government to dissolve Parliament and hold a general election. He said none of the 225 MPs in Parliament would be re-elected.

The Cardinal told the media that all MPs had failed in their duty by the people. “Rulers of this country are only interested in earning money and not ushering in national progress.

Everything is imported. Local farmers should be helped to produce enough paddy. Fishermen should be given assistance to increase their output. I don’t blame the ruling party alone for the country’s failure; the blame should be apportioned to the Opposition.
