Cabraal banned from leaving SL
Colombo Chief Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala yesterday (07) banned former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal from leaving the country until 18 April.
The order was made after considering a petition filed by former Southern Province Governor Rajith Keerthi Thennakoon through a private plaint filed in terms of section 136(1)(a) of the Code of Criminal Procedure Act.
Kekunawala ordered the former Central Bank Governor to appear before court on 18 April.
Tennakoon has filed six charges against Cabraal. Among them are allegations that Cabraal had failed to disclose his relationship to some primary bond market stakeholders and that the government lost between 10.04 to 10.06 billion rupees during his tenure as the governor of the central bank between 2006 and 2015.
