Cabinet nod to accept medical degrees awarded by top 1000 Universities in the world
The cabinet of ministers approved the proposal presented jointly by the President and the Minister of Health to take steps to enact necessary legal provisions so that the medical degrees awarded by the top 1000 internationally ranked universities can be accepted in Sri Lanka.
The proposal was based on the report containing the recommendations of the cabinet appointed committee to prepare a national policy that includes the standards and criteria to be based on the recognition of medical degree courses offered by internationally recognized universities and to make appropriate recommendations to amend the provisions of the Medical Ordinance to suit the current needs.
