Cabinet approved quarterly electricity tariff revisions – Kanchana

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera, convening  a special media briefing at the ministry auditorium today (31) announced that the cabinet of ministers had approved the proposal presented jointly with  the President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies to revise the electricity tariff every three (03) months.

In future, electricity tariffs will be revised on the 1st of January, April, July and October. The minister said that as the electricity tariff was revised in October 2023 it will not be revised on 1st January 2024 and the next revision will take place only on 1st April 2024.
