Cabinet approval sought for holding PC polls

Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Thennakoon yesterday said that a proposal would be submitted for the approval of the Cabinet today (14) to expedite arrangements for holding the provincial polls

Addressing the Women’s Convention of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna in Dambulla the Minister said: “The President, Prime Minister, and SLPP Founder Basil Rajapaksa have instructed us to conduct the provincial council elections at the earliest.

The Minister said that the decision to conduct the provincial polls had been made during a meeting with former provincial councillors and provincial council chairmen at Temple Trees recently.
