The Court of Appeal yesterday (10) rejected a revision application by SJB MP Patali Champika Ranawaka seeking a court order suspending the hearing of the case filed before the Colombo High Court accusing him of concealing evidence and fabricating evidence in relation to the 2016 road accident in Rajagiriya, which resulted in serious injuries to a youth.

The revision application was taken up for consideration yesterday before a bench comprising Justices Menaka Wijesundara and S. Kumaran Ratnam.

The court rejected the request made by MP Ranawaka’s attorney, Faisz Musthapha PC, seeking an interim order to suspend hearing of the case against the former, which is to be taken up at the Colombo High Court today (11).

Senior Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris appearing for the Attorney General expressed opposition to the revision petition.

The court said that its decision on granting leave to proceed with the revision petition filed by MP Ranawaka would be announced on 24 Jan.
