CA dismisses Ranawaka’s application against AG

The Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed the application for notice on the Attorney General, filed by Patali Champika Ranawaka.

The applicant Ranawaka had requested the Court of Appeal to direct the Attorney General to stop calling of witnesses at the trial against him in the Colombo High Court.

Ranawaka has been indicted of concealing evidence in respect of a road accident at Rajagiriya on 28 February 2016.

Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Pieris, President’s Counsel, appeared for the Attorney General.

Faiz Mustapha PC, appeared with Keerthi Tilakaratne for the applicant Ranawaka.

Applicant Ranawaka is an SJB MP for Colombo.

The bench comprised Justice Menaka Wijesundera and Justice P. Kumararatnam.
