Bus accident in Welikanda injures 30
At least 30 people were injured after a bus veered off the road and toppled in Welikanda, North Central Province on Thursday (30), police said.The injured have been admitted to the Welikanda Divisional Hospital, police said.
Four people who sustained serious injuries have been transferred to Polonnaruwa District General Hospital, police said.A spokesman for Welikanda police told the media that the driver had lost control of the vehicle and that the bus had been transporting at least 75 employees of a privately owned rice mill.Some 19,740 road accidents were reported in Sri Lanka in 2022, killing 2,485 people, according to the police.
