Breathtaking Show at Lady Hilton

The fashion show “Threads of Time” by the leading Singapore designer Kavita Thulsidas was held for the second time in Sri Lanka on Feb. 13. This event was a fashion celebration laced with outstanding elegance and glamour. The delicate fabrics, georgettes and chiffons provided that sexy feminine look to her models on the ramp adding a touch of class.

The collection comprised of sarees, Sharahas, long dresses, kurtis and more. The finale comprised of attractive silhouettes in red, a blend of the East and West, the models carried with aplomb and grace.

Kavita Thulasidas wowed with her stunning creations at this unforgettable show “Threads of Time” with her fabulous yet wearable creations at the Lady Hilton High Tea and Fashion Show.

Choreography was handled by Brian Kerkoven, models hairdos and make up were by Ramani Fernando and her talented stylists. Ashok Ferrey compered the evening in his own inimitable style, charming all those present.

Host hotel Hilton Colombo, proved the hospitality with a superlative tea buffet and service to match.

“I am delighted to be back in Sri Lanka and look forward to a better time for all of us. Singapore is doing well and fashion is very much at the forefront since life has more or less returned to normal”, Kavita said.

Soft georgettes and chiffon drapes, flared pants with capes highlighted the show with miniature mirror embroidery and thread work, in both bright as well as pastel colours. Another collection in a combination of floral prints in organza combined with georgette were a star attraction.

Anarkalis, lenghas, and of course saris, delighted all those present. A third collection of florals in soft pastel hues created very specially for Valentine’s Day as well as a series of outfits in deep reds and fuschia pinks, also keeping the Valentine theme made the show a truly memorable one.

“The silhouettes this season have a soft diffused look which combine ethnic prints and embroidery with western silhouettes such as jump suits and long, dreamy dresses. All in all there is something for everyone”, said Kavita.

Anita Dorai who is also from Singapore and has a long association with Kavita, said she looked forward to many more events and shows now that Covid was on the wane. ” I hope to bring down some exciting acts and assure our audiences here that they have a lot to look forward to by way of international entertainment”, said Anita.

A total of 60 outfits were showcased and the audience was spellbound.
