Booster really effective: Fully vaccinated not among victims within City limits

Chief Medical Officer of Health of the Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni yesterday (02) disclosed that none of those who had received ‘booster’ dose in the area coming under the purview of the Municipality succumbed to Covid-19 since January 1.

Dr. Wijemuni said so when The Island inquired about the progress in the ongoing efforts to encourage the public to receive the booster.

According to the top CMC medical official the victims included unvaccinated and partially vaccinated. Dr. Wijemuni emphasized that the lives of those who hadn’t taken the booster were at risk. Responding to another query, he said that wouldn’t mean fully vaccinated people wouldn’t succumb to Covid-19 if they had other serious comorbidities.
