Blood Sacrifice

The ‘Long Arm of the Law’,

Often clumsy and paralyzed,

Is dead on target this time around,

Brutally bloodying the pleading lass,

Her piercing screams of doubling pain,

Failing to still that Beast within him,

Now fully roused and baying for blood,

And his role as protector is now forgot,

For, his brief is to silence the Scribe,

And ensure that history she never drafts,

So that ignorance will blissfully last,

But that plea, ‘Please Sir, hit me not’,

Will return to shatter his sleep at night,

Making him cower from daughter and wife.
