Big scene this Saturday…with Aquarius

Yes, indeed, from what I gather, it’s certainly going to be an explosive scene, this Saturday, October 10th, at the Galadari Hotel’s Arena.

The former Colombo 2000 nightclub has been refurbished, and given a new look, and will open its doors to the public, this Saturday, from 8.00 pm onwards.

And, what is going to make opening night…a night to remember, is the presence of the band Aquarius.

Just a few months, in the scene – mainly practicing and getting their act together – the guys have already made their presence felt and, indeed, are the talk-of-the-town, at the moment.

Wherever they have performed, over the past few weeks, there have been only superlatives used to describe their act.

They did it at ‘Arise Sri Lanka’ and immediately went into top gear, wowing audiences at a prestigious event, held at the Hilton Colombo, and then made it a happening scene at the grand opening of the Darley rd. Pub & Restaurant, in Colombo.

Their gigs were not confined to Colombo only; the management of the Rodeo Pub & Restaurant, in Negombo, were keen to experience something different and they wanted to see the band Aquarius – live, in action.

Well, their scene came alive, on the night of September 25th and 26th, with Aquarius in the spotlight, along with DJ Joe.

It was full house, on both nights, and Aquarius have now been contracted to do the last Friday and Saturday, of every month, at the Rodeo, in Negombo (this month, however, it will be Thursday and Saturday as Friday is Poya), while, in Colombo, they will be doing Friday nights, at the Darley rd. Pub & Restaurant.

But…everyone seems to be waiting patiently for the big scene, at the Arena, this Saturday.

Aquarius leader, bassist Benjy, keeps telling us that it will be a night never to be forgotten! (Oh, and I plan to be there…to check out this night of all nights!)

“It will be an evening, packed with fun and excitement, and fantastic music, and we want all nightclubbers, music lovers, fans and friends, and readers of The Island, to be at the Arena, this Saturday, to experience it all,” said Benjy.

Entrance is free, but a minimum charge of Rs. 3000, per person, will apply.

According to information, coming my way, a full house is expected, so if you want to be a part of the happening scene, this Saturday, at the Arena, Galadari Hotel, better get there early.
