Bid to enter SLFP Darley Road office thwarted

Police yesterday thwarted an attempt by a group of SLFPers to force themselves into the party headquarters at Darley Road. The attempt came close on the heels of Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe receiving the appointment as the Acting SLFP Chairman. The police brought in water cannon and had riot squads on standby to meet any eventuality.
