Betwixt Cricket and Mammon

It’s certainly no storm in a teacup,

This big rout in the ‘Gentleman’s Game’,

Which is for many a searing shame,

In the run-down, storm-tossed state,

Where cricket and formal religion,

Are pain killers for life’s discontents,

But away with time-buying commissions,

Which make a virtue of splitting hairs….

Instead, free cricket of Mammon worship,

And ensure your player’s heart,

Is fully in the game and sportsmanship,

Which is about bridge-building and friendship.
