Mirage: The new lineup - Niro, Viraj, Sharon (Lulu), Donald, Christine, Asanji and Benjy

Bassist Benjy Ranabahu seems to have a knack for keeping music lovers guessing! And he does this ever so often…when on stage, as well.

When booming his way, on stage, he surprises the audience with a guitar that lights up, and he even uses pyrotechnic devices, for special occasions.

This time, however, the surprise that Benjy has unfolded is certainly going to make all music lovers, and fans of this dynamic bass guitarist, extremely happy.

Yes, Benjy is back with Mirage, and they have got an exciting new lineup, as well.

Over the past few years, Benjy did his thing with Aquarius, and they were quite a successful outfit.

However, the pandemic, lockdown, etc., hampered their activities and, finally, Benjy decided to go back…to where he belongs – Mirage.

Drummer Donald Pieries leads a lineup that includes Benjy (bass), Niro Wattaladeniya (guitar), Asangi Wickramasinghe (keyboards/vocals), Viraj Cooray (guitar/vocals) and two upfront female vocalists, Sharon and Christine Ferdinandus.

While Christine is relatively new to the scene, Sharon (better known as Lulu) was at, one time, with the group Gypsies.

The band has already got work coming their way and, in fact, will be abroad towards the latter part of December, 2022.

“We will be in Oman for Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve,” said Benjy, adding that, right now, they are working on their repertoire, and stage presentation.

“We want to give music lovers something to talk about,” Benjy quipped.

Mirage has been around, in the music scene, for the past 33 years, and has performed, overseas, several times.
