Bellanwila lake and jogging track neglected

The beautiful Bellanwila Lake and jogging track, built when Gotabaya Rajapaksa was the Secretary to the Ministry of Urban Development, has been in a state of neglect. The lake is now almost covered with lotus plants, and the jogging track is not maintained properly.

Stray dogs are seen freely moving around. It looks as if the authorities concerned were trying to discredit the government or the government has not provided funds for the maintenance of the place. It is earnestly hoped the Urban Development Authority will look into the management of this recreation facility.
