Beast Unshackled
By Lynn Ockersz
The unshackled Beast is running loose,
Though centuries have turned into millennia;
His automatic operates with ruthless ease,
Savaging humans while in their huts they sleep,
His brain registering only his war lord’s diktat,
Whose big plan is to shape Ploughs into Spears,
And turn rich pastures into mass grave quagmires,
But whether this Beast within could be cowed,
And made obedient to the Wisdom of the Ages,
Found in the teachings of Eastern and Western seers,
Hinges vitally on whether Spirit would rule Matter,
And on this there has been no clear consensus,
Thus, giving the Beast, his masters and bank-rollers,
The license to continue their campaign of terror,
But the silent majority cannot shrug their shoulders,
As if to say, ‘We give up on this ethical conundrum’,
For, evil thrives in the absence of moral opposition.
