Basil bashing

Udaya Gammanpila and Wimal Weerawansa, two faithful servants of the Rajapaksas, have separated Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa from the clan and have started condemning him. Why do they spare the big boss who has power to control anyone?

Basil is praised by these very people saying he is a master strategist, blessed with a lot of grey matter. One reason to boost him up was that many considered him as the person who formed a powerful political party (SLPP), but they tend to forget what Basil did was just giving a name to a group of ungrateful SLFPers who blindly followed Mahinda Rajapaksa. The President once publicly said that his ‘word’ was the rule (though these days his words are just being ignored by the CEB on a daily basis), why cannot he overrule Basil if he (Prez) has any idea better than Basil’s to control the country’s economy?

Anyone who has even one single brain should not condemn Basil for what he is doing, as that is the maximum he can perform within the conventional financial system.
