KANDY –

Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Parliamentarian and one time General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP) Tissa Attanayake said in Kandy on Wednesday (26) that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) had easily won a two-thirds majority owing to the disunity in the oldest popular political entity, the UNP.

After taking part in a religious programme in Kandy Tissa Attanayake MP, responding to the media, said that if the UNPers hoped for future success, they had to reunite, Tissa Attanayake said.

The UNP had to appoint a new leader, said Tissa Attanayake, adding that the most qualified and suitable leader was the leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Sajith Premadasa.

The United National Party would have a future only if the leadership of the party was given to Sajith Premadasa, Tissa Attanayake stressed. Results of the August 05 General Election clearly displayed the future of the United National Party (UNP) due to the disunity and the craving for leadership of the party, the former UNP stalwart added.
