Wijeyadasa to take up the issue with Minister Alles

Justice Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakse, PC, yesterday (09) assured the Opposition that he would discuss the issue at hand with Public Security Minister Tiran Alles after SJB MP Nalin Bandara questioned the failure on the part of the government to take action against State Minister Indika Anuruddha whose henchmen were alleged to have attacked Omani Managing Director of a foreign apparel company situated at Halpe, Katana.

Former UNPer Bandara said that the finger was pointed at State Minister Indika Anuruddha. The MP urged President Ranil Wickremesinghe to sack the Minister.

MP Anuruddha has denied the allegation.

The Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) strongly condemned the attack carried out on March 30, 2023. Against the failure on the part of the government to take tangible measures in this regard, the investor recently closed down the factory.

MP Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle told Parliament yesterday that approximately 500 families had been affected due to the closure of the factory.

Investigations have revealed that a gang stormed the premises after the top management refused to hire a vehicle owned by a person, allegedly connected to the State Minister.
